by Muay, Member of Mittaphab Methodist Church, Thailand.
My name is Muay. There are four members in my family. Before I came to know the Lord, many friends from church often shared with me about God. Pastor John came to visit my family often. However, I wasn’t interested. I believed that all religions taught us to be good.
One day, my husband, Pi Suk, fell off from the rooftop at work. He was rushed to the hospital. The doctor told me that my husband would never be the same again. He would be bedridden for the rest of his life and would need close monitoring 24 hours a day. When I heard this, I was devastated. What would happen to me and our two children?
Each time we went to visit Pi Suk in the hospital, he remained unconscious. Pastor John and the church members came to visit to pray for him. After 20 days, the doctor asked what my plans were. He would have to be discharged soon as there was nothing the hospital could do anymore. I was faced with two choices – I was either to bring him home to look after him or to look for a hospice for him. I was at a loss and called Pastor John. I asked him to help me to find a hospice for Pi Suk as I wouldn’t be able to be with him 24 hours a day to look after him.
Pastor John told me to trust in God. Even though the doctor said that Pi Suk would be bedridden, but we should trust that God could do great things in Pi Suk’s life. That evening, Pastor John came to visit me at home. I told him, “If my husband can wake up and talk and walk again, I will believe in God and receive baptism.“ He encouraged me and told me he would be visited Pi Suk in the hospital.
The next day, when I went to hospital, my husband looked at me and said, “Muay, Pastor John came to see me yesterday. The doctor said I could go home already.” I was shocked! My husband was awake, and he could recognise me and speak to me! I called Pastor John immediately. “Pastor, pastor, Pi Suk regained conscious! My husband spoke to me! Thank God.”
Today, my husband has totally recovered, and he is the sole breadwinner of the household. My whole family has come to accept Jesus Christ as our Saviour, and I made a promise to God that I will attend worship service every Sunday.
