My name is Khon Chet. I was born in 1965. Currently, I live in Prek Omprel village, Kandal province. Before I became a believer, I was a person who hated Christianity. I only believed in myself. I was a fierce and hard-hearted person. I got angry easily and I could not forgive others for the wrong that they have done to me. I experienced poverty in my life and my family’s situation.
I became a Christian in 2002. One evening, I turned on the radio to Family Radio FM103, and I heard them talking about Jesus. I almost wanted to change the channel but I recognised the voice of the person who was speaking on the radio. It was Mr Eng Phearom (a popular Cambodian actor), and I liked to listen to him because I liked him. There was a part when he talked about prayer, and he taught the listeners how to pray.
Since then, I started to learn how to pray: “Heavenly Father, I pray for Your presence to be here to fulfil my life. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.” I continued to pray to God. I prayed that if He is the true God, then He could help me to find a job so that my family’s situation will become better. Three days after that prayer, my cousin called to tell me that an NGO was recruiting staff. Immediately, I went for an interview, and I was so happy that the NGO offered me the job. And I started work on that day itself! That was my first experience with God working miracles. And my heart was overjoyed; I was so thankful and grateful. I started to grow to have faith in God.
God had blessed me with many things through my work. He gave me wisdom and many other blessings that I had wished for. After working in the NGO for 16 years, I decided to have a change of experience. I prayed that God would bless me with a simple house and that I could have a small business. And God is indeed good and merciful; He answered my prayer requests.
I know that my life is in God's hands. I have come to know God, and I am a child of God. He is my Saviour and Lord, and my life has changed from the inside out. He changed my way of thinking, and my character. I used to be unforgiving, but He has changed me. I know that He is still working in my life, and He is with me always because He has promised never to leave me.
