I am Gayatri Shrestha from Gwarko, Lalitpur. I am 18 years old. My family of four includes my mother, my two older sisters, and me. My father left us when I was six years old. Since then, my mother has been looking after the three of us. She has provided for our every basic need, although it was tough on her. After my mother met and talked with Pastor Sabashtain Lepcha, I had the opportunity to stay at Sophia’s Home at the age of 11 in 2014.
I started studying at Covenant Academy in Grade 5. At first, it was challenging for me to adjust to a big family, especially when I had been living only with my small family in a tiny rented room before that. But as time passed, I felt comfortable with Sophia’s Home. I passed my Secondary Education Examination (SEE) and +2 levels with good grades. Recently, I graduated from Sophia’s Home.
During my eight years of journey with Sophia’s Home, I had many opportunities. I was blessed to be educated at a renowned school. I even got the chance to visit many places, once a year, where my family members could not bring me. I was nervous speaking or doing anything in front of many people, but my confidence levelled up after staying at Sophia’s Home. I am still working on improving myself. I have learned to respect my seniors and love my juniors. I am blessed with many sisters, friends, and even brothers.
I am grateful to all my sponsors, home guardians, MSN team, and Sophia’s Home family for supporting and encouraging me in all situations. I am beyond grateful to God for all the blessings that moulded me to be the person I am today.
I have graduated from Sophia’s Home a few months ago and I am currently staying with my family. I look forward to pursuing my bachelor’s degree whilst working part-time.
