God is Faithful

My missionary journey started twelve years ago. My husband, John, and I left Singapore with lots of uncertainties. We did not know where we would stay. We did not know how we would be received. We had no idea how to go about starting our ministry with the Shan people in Chiang Mai.

Nevertheless, we left for Chiang Mai with a bag full of hope and anticipation. We knew that we were not alone in this journey. “He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:24, ESV) Then, when we reached the airport, the friendly face of Pastor Art greeted us.

Term Fun Home, a children’s home especially for the Shan boys, was started ten years ago. We build these boys up to become disciples of Christ. It is humbling to see how God has led us to these boys and how He has provided for all that we needed to nurture them. Our first batch of boys has graduated from senior high in April 2021.

In 2016, we planted Mittaphab Methodist Church. Today, the church ministers to about fifty Shan adults every week. We hope that the church will continue to minister to more Shan people in Chiang Mai.

Twelve years on and our calling to reach out to the Shan people in Chiang Mai remains clear. God is truly faithful. We are certain that He has never fail and He will continue to see us through the ups and downs in our ministry.

Dear Angela, I remembered praying for you as you ventured in faith to serve @Thailand more than a decade ago. As both John and yourself have laboured diligently, I praise and thank God for your love and dedication, especially in reaching the Shan boys and community. May the Lord grant you the best of health and the anointing of His Spirit as you continue to serve His mission. Take care, God bless! Shalom - PDL
