by Lydia, Member of Nong Bua Lamphu Methodist Church, Thailand.
Hello, my name is Wiyada Thongkaew. My nickname is Lydia, and I am currently 17 years old, studying in Grade 11. I was born into a Christian family, with my mother, grandmother, and two aunties all being Christians. This meant that I started going to church from a young age and hearing many stories through Sunday school classes. I accepted Christ when I was 9 years old through a senior in the church.
Before I believed, as a little child, I didn't really understand the church liturgy nor things that happened in the church. I only knew that Christmas was Jesus' birthday. However, I was excited about the gift exchange that happened every year on that day. When I was 7 years old, I was almost the ringleader in bullying the boys in my class because they used to tease me a lot. I found them really annoying, so I would chase them and kick them. I was also a child who often used bad languages. The teachers didn't say anything because they didn’t notice. When I was about 11, I joined a group to bully a boy until he cried and reported us to the teacher. That was probably the worst thing I did at that time.

After accepting Christ, I slowly began to be transformed by God. I started to use less bad languages, became more patient, and by the time I reached secondary school, I no longer chased nor hit the boys. I thank God for placing me in a group of friends who are of good influence during secondary school. That kept me away from drugs. I also began to serve God in the church through little ways by helping with various tasks each year. God has blessed me in many ways, including keeping me healthy, allowing me to do well in my studies and even the opportunity to participate in academic competitions. The teacher who coached me was also blessed by God through the competitions because it led her to be able to seek a transfer to her desired school.
I was once a child who almost faced depression, but I thank God for keeping me mentally healthy through the encouragement I found while reading the Bible. He has always answered my prayers. Although I may not have a testimony of miracles like others, God has continually blessed me and guided my life along His path. He knows each of us best, and for me, that is truly a miracle.
